Everyone needs an obsession, and for Mexi Log Fest Founder, that’s surfboards.

Everyone needs an obsession, something that drives them, brings joy and a smile to their face. And for Israel Preciado, that’s surfing. As a board junkie, he’s accumulated a few boards (thanks mainly to his global network of board mules) and eye rolls from his lady over this obsession. But his need to try every shape, model and size is why he was the first person we thought of to kick off Waves and Boards, where we chat with fellow ocean lovers about their favorite pairings.

“This is one of my favorite waves in all of Mexico, which is located between San Blas and Punta de Mita, Nayarit. This lefthander is nestled in a beautiful tiny cove and it breaks all year around, but I personally prefer surfing it during those long period southern hemisphere swells.”

“I also brought a 5’7’’ Twin fin fish by R Garcia. This fish is soooo sick, you can hit the lip and try to get all radical but you can also make some steezy long high lines, stylish bottom turns and fun roundhouse cutbacks.”

“I love this board because it’s super fun, has a lot of power, yet can still handle pretty steep drops. It also has a lot of foam in the front and allows me to get in the wave pretty easily. Being a lazy longboarder, I try to ride shortboards that really floaaaaatt.“
